!Hasta luego España!

Often times people say that “it’s hard to say goodbye.”  Therefore, we prefer to say “hasta luego,” or “see you later.”  May we all make it back to Cádiz one day!

And now the final images of our summer in this magical city…

Farewell Dinner

Last night we all got together to celebrate the end of an amazing stay here in Cádiz.  Our favorite restaurant, El Mesón Criollo, treated us well once again.  And to make things even more special, we celebrated Ansley’s 18th birthday.  Hope you like the pictures!

Aqualand

After much request, we were finally able to make it to a water park on Wednesday.  Aqualand is the main water park here in Cádiz.  As you can see from the pictures, our students enjoyed their time cooling off in swimming pools and sliding down many attractions.  By the way, isn’t the water fountain cool?

Gibraltar

On Tuesday we made a day trip to the British territory of Gibraltar.  Many of our students were glad to see this microcosm of England in the southern tip of Spain.  But undoubtedly the main attraction, besides the rock itself, was its popular inhabitants—the monkeys!  Some of us decided to walk all the way to the top to see the beautiful views from above, including the African continent across the strait.

Ronda

For this weekend’s day trip we went to beautiful Ronda.  Located in the mountains of the province of Málaga, Ronda was absolutely breathtaking.  We could all see why Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway were both enchanted by this city.

After visiting the Plaza de Toros (or bullfighting ring) we wondered off in smaller groups to explore the historic center.  Our students enjoyed not only the views from above, but the fine shopping as well.  We also got to celebrate Miriam’s birthday on that day!  Hope you like the pictures!

Taller de arte

One of the most popular souvenir to bring back from Spain is an ‘abanico,’ or a fan.  Earlier in the week our students had the opportunity to create one of their own during an arts and crafts workshop.  It was amazing to see how creative our students could be in their designs and creations.

Actividades de la semana

This week we had another nice mix of activities.  During the Spanish language classes, our students had the opportunity to interact with Italian students who are also learning Spanish in the same school.  Meanwhile, some signed up for an advanced Spanish workshop in literature while others attended the AP Spanish language workshops.  And finally on Friday night we had a ‘restaurant night’ before heading out to a school dance and games activity Spanish style!
